6-month-old infant dies of measles in Faridpur hospital

The latest death has taken the measles toll in the district to 14

A 6-month-old infant has died from measles at Faridpur Medical College Hospital within the last 24 hours.

The latest casualty brings the total number of child deaths from measles in Faridpur to 14, Faridpur District Civil Surgeon Mahmudul Hasan said on Tuesday.

The deceased child, identified only as Jannati, was the daughter of Nur Huq from Madaripur district’s Rajoir Upazila.

Dr Hasan said the infant was admitted to the hospital with a measles infection on May 24, and passed away while undergoing treatment at the facility.

He also said that awareness campaigns and vaccination drives are currently under way following instructions from the Health Services Division.
