The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) has warned that the state’s growing “fascist tendencies” pose a serious threat to Bangladesh’s democratic fabric.

The warning came on the third day of CPB’s 13th Congress, where the Central Committee presented its political proposal at the council session.

The proposal identified several critical dangers, including communalism, the rise of armed communal forces, the state’s “fascist” tendencies, attempts to curtail democratic rights, and efforts to undermine national interests.

These issues were described as serious threats to the nation’s stability.

At a press conference held on Sunday evening, it was announced that delegates from 45 district-level teams took part in discussions on the political proposal.

CPB spokespersons Ruhin Hossain Prince, Mihir Ghosh, and Media Sub-committee Convenor Lucky Akter shared detailed insights with the media.

Reaffirming the party’s commitment to building a stronger organisation by uniting the people’s strength, the proposal stresses the need for a pragmatic, planned approach rooted in present political realities.

It calls for a continued, uncompromising struggle in defence of democratic rights and national interests, urging the party to act with both responsibility and leadership.

The CPB said the congress will conclude on Monday, with the presentation and approval of all reports, followed by elections to the Control Commission, Central Committee, and National Council.
