International Crimes Tribunal's investigation agency reconstituted

Two retired and eight serving police officers have been included

The International Crimes Tribunal's investigation agency has been reorganised with the inclusion of two retired and eight serving police officers.

The development was disclosed in a notification issued by the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday.

The 10 officers appointed to the investigation agency are retired additional DIG Md Mazharul Haque and retired superintendent of police Shahidullah Chowdhury, and Additional Superintendent of Police Md Alamgir from the Anti-Terrorism Unit, Additional Superintendent of Police Md Monirul Islam from the Police Bureau of Investigation, Additional Superintendent of Police Md Jane Alam Khan from the Special Branch, Assistant Superintendent of Police Sayed Abdur Rauf from the Traffic and Driving School, Police Inspector Md Yunus from CID, Inspector Md Masud Parvez from Charghat Police Station in Rajshahi, Police Inspector Muhammad Alamgir Sarkar from Dhaka’s RRF, and Police Inspector Md Mashiur Rahman from CID.

The notification says these officers will assist the investigation work for trials conducted under the International Crimes Tribunal Act, supporting both the investigation and prosecution teams.

The retired government officers appointed to the investigation agency will serve for two years from the date of their joining.

Officers on deputation will continue in their roles until further notice.

The notification added that all previously issued notifications regarding the reorganisation, staffing, inclusion, or contractual appointments of the investigation agency are considered null and void.
