A man travelling in an autorickshaw has died after a paddy-laden truck slammed into it in Netrokona’s Kalmakanda Upazila.
The accident occurred at Gutura Graveyard road around 10:45pm on Thursday, leaving three others injured, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Ferdous Alam of Kalmakanda Police Station.
The victim, Md Nur Alam, 28, was a native of Shouljan village.
The injured are Haji Rafiqul Islam, 60, Shanto Shankar, 38, and Antar Saha, 27.
They are undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
SI Alam said the autorickshaw carrying four passengers was travelling to Kalmakanda Bazar from Rajur Bazar when the oncoming truck smashed into it on the way.
The autorickshaw turned over and the four passengers were critically injured.
When locals rescued them and took them to the Kalmakanda Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared Nur Alam dead.
The police officer said that the truck was seized but the driver fled. Legal measures in the incident are under way.
