Islami Andolon Bangladesh has postponed its “mass” rally scheduled for Jan 9.

The party announced the decision on Friday, following a regular meeting of its central committee chaired by Amir Syed Md Rezaul Karim.

The meeting resolved to defer the rally in view of the government primary school assistant teacher recruitment test and the political situation surrounding the election, as per a media statement.

The rally had earlier been announced at a party meeting on Dec 25, when Islami Andolon declared it would hold the programme to demand the arrest of those involved in the killing of Inqilab Moncho Convenor Sharif Osman bin Hadi, improvement of the law and order and assurance of a “level playing field” in the election.

According to the revised academic calendar, the government is set to hold the primary teacher hiring test on Jan 9, directly overlapping with the party's initial schedule.
