Dhaka University’s Faculty of Fine Arts has begun preparations to celebrate the Bengali New Year with the traditional parade, this time continuing the trend of omitting “Mongol” from the name and calling it the “Anondo Shobhajatra”.

On Monday, the preparations began in the lobby in front of the Zainul Gallery with the beats of the drum and painting activities marking the onset of Pohela Boishakh celebrations.

The government had earlier announced nationwide events for the Bengali Year 1433 celebrations, highlighting the Fine Arts faculty’s “Borshoboron Shobhajatra”, or New Year Welcoming Procession.
