Police have arrested a college student from Brahmanbaria’s Akhaura Upazila for making “lewd” comments about Zaima Rahman, the daughter of the prime minister and the chief of the ruling BNP, on Facebook.
The arrestee, Sabidul Islam Siam, is a resident of Azampur village and an 11th grader at Brahmanbaria Government College.
He was arrested at a relative's house in Sadar Upazila on Sunday night, said Akhaura Police chief Md Jabed-ul Islam.
Siam was sent to jail by a court on Monday afternoon.
The officer said Palash Miah, joint general secretary of the Akhaura Upazila unit Chhatra Dal, BNP’s student wing, filed a police complaint on Saturday night, accusing Siam of making “nasty” comments about Zaima on Friday.
