Two children have drowned in separate incidents in floodwaters in Banshkhali Upazila of Chattogram, police say.
The incidents occurred on Friday morning in South Ilsha village and Ratnapur of Baharchhara Union.
An 8-year-old boy, identified as Md Ashik drowned around 11:30am in South Ilsha village.

Locals said Ashik, who lived near Meher Ali's house in the village, was swept away by hilly runoff after leaving home in the morning.
He was later pulled from the water, but had died by then.
The other victim, an 11-year-old child who drowned in Ratnapur, has not yet been identified.
Md Robiul Haque, chief of Banshkhali Police Station said many parts of the Upazila remained under water and police had received reports of the two deaths, though details were still being collected.

Large areas of several southern Chattogram Upazilas have remained flooded after five days of heavy rain and hilly runoff, leaving hundreds of thousands of people stranded.
Much of Banshkhali is still under water.
