A fire has allegedly been set at the Chashma Hill residence of late Chattogram mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury in the port city.
Mohiuddin Chowdhury's eldest son, Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury Nowfel, an Awami League leader, served as education minister in the ousted Awami League government.
Since the government's fall on Aug 5, 2024, during the July Uprising, the Chashma Hill residence has been attacked and set on fire several times.
Mohiuddin Chowdhury's younger son, Borhanul Hasan Chowdhury Salehin, alleged that the house was set on fire again on Thursday night.
On Wednesday, Nowfel attended a press conference in New Delhi held by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who remains in India after being sentenced to death in a crimes against humanity case.
Hasina joined the event virtually.
Former Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan also joined the press conference virtually.
On the same day, his house in Magura was attacked and vandalised.
