Police have recovered the bodies of a "couple" from a hotel in the Foy's Lake area of Chattogram.
The bodies were recovered from the Royal Park hotel adjacent to the Chattogram Zoo in Foy's Lake area on Monday.
The dead were identified as Md Ripon, 50, and a woman named Sonia Akhter, 33. They were husband and wife, police said, citing family sources.
They were residents of the port city's Lalkhan Bazar Dhebar Par area. Ripon was a fruit vendor and Sonia worked as a domestic aode.
Ripon and Sonia rented a room at the hotel on Sunday afternoon, Inspector (Investigation) Syed Omar of Akbar Shah Police Station told bdnews24.com. They were seen having dinner together that night.
"Finding the door of their room open, a hotel boy entered and saw Ripon hanged (from the ceiling). Sonia was seen lying on the bed with foam oozing out of her mouth.”
When the hotel authority informed police, they recovered the bodies and sent them to the morgue in Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
Inspector Omar said the family members were present during the recovery of the bodies. They suggested some “domestic dispute” between the couple, he said.
However, the police inspector said all those issues were subject to investigation.
