Five crude bombs recovered in Savar, area cordoned off over fear of more explosives

Police have recovered five live crude bombs from Savar’s Hemayetpur and detained one in connection with the incident.

Savar Model Police chief Saiful Alam said the crude bombs were recovered from Shyampur in Hemayetpur on Tuesday night following a tip-off.

Following information provided by the detainee, law enforcing personnel have since cordoned off another nearby area on suspicion of more explosives being located there.

Police, however, withheld the identity of the detainee for security reasons.

"It is believed that more exclusive devices are stored behind Shyampur Government Primary School in the same area," officer Saiful said.

“The site has been secured with a safety cordon. Upon being informed, a bomb disposal team has arrived from Dhaka.”

Police have been deployed as the incident sparked panic among locals in Shyampur and surrounding areas.
