A fresh complaint has been submitted to the International Crimes Tribunal accusing former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 18 others of committing genocide during the Hifazat-e Islam rally at Shapla Chattar in 2013.
Supreme Court lawyer Gazi MH Tamim filed the complaint at the tribunal’s investigation agency office in Dhanmondi on Tuesday.
Tamim has pleaded with the tribunal to investigate the alleged killings as crimes against humanity and genocide, and that the trial is held in the International Crimes Tribunal.
The complaint names former ICT prosecutor Tureen Afroz, writer and journalist Shahriar Kabir, Dhaka University Professor Muntasir Mamun, and Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker, among others.
Also listed are several cabinet members, the former inspector general of police, the then RAB chief, and other senior police officials.
Earlier, three cases were filed with the tribunal's investigation agency, accusing Hasina, Awami League leaders, 14-party alliance members, and others of murder and genocide.
