Another special assistant to Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has stepped down within a week. Sayedur Rahman, who was tasked with overseeing the health ministry, has resigned this time.

The former vice-chancellor of Bangladesh Medical University had been serving as a special assistant to the health ministry with the rank of a state minister since last November.

A gazette notification was published on Tuesday confirming that the president has accepted his resignation.

Earlier, on Dec 25, another special assistant Khuda Baksh Chowdhury also resigned.

The former inspector general of police (IGP) had been responsible for overseeing the home ministry.

Before that, the special assistant to the education ministry, Professor Aminul Islam, resigned on Mar 10.

On the same day, Planning Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud relinquished his responsibilities for the education ministry and Professor CR Abrar took charge as the new education advisor.

With Sayedur, all three individuals appointed in November last year as special assistants to Yunus have resigned.
