Foreign Advisor Touhid Hossain has said the next general elections will be a major test for law-enforcing agencies.

He made the comment on Saturday while meeting district officers at the conference room of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Rangpur.

“Law and order is the foundation of everything in the country. The situation is much better now after some initial problems. The police have reorganised,” said Touhid.

“Law-enforcing agencies must remain vigilant during the election. Those defeated in the election may try to create disorder. We want to say goodbye after holding a free and fair election and handing over responsibility to an elected government,” he said.

He also emphasised skilled manpower export.

The advisor is on a four-day trip to Rangpur. He will return to Dhaka on Dec 7.
