Train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route have been suspended after four carriages of a commuter train derailed near Gafargaon Railway Station in Mymensingh.

No casualties or major damage have been reported immediately after the accident.

The derailment occurred around 9am on Friday as the Jamalpur commuter train, bound for Dhaka, was approaching Gafargaon Railway Station.

Mymensingh Railway Station Superintendent Abdullah Al Harun said senior railway officials had been sent to the scene and preparations were under way to dispatch a relief train.

Citing witnesses, he said a loud noise was heard moments before the coaches behind the locomotive left the tracks as the train was entering the station.
