A six-year-old boy has been killed in an attack by a man reportedly driven by a personal vendetta against the child’s father in Chattogram’s Sandwip.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at Pelishar Bazaar of the Maghdhara Union, police said.

The victim, Ali Hossain, was the son of Abu Taher from Magdhara village and a first-grade student at a local madrasa.

Following the murder, police arrested Jahangir Alam, 45, a resident of Magdhara Union.

According to initial reports, Sandwip Police chief AKM Shafiqul Islam said: “Jahangir had a past conflict with the boy’s father. On the morning of the attack, while returning from madrasa, the child was beaten and thrown by Jahangir, causing severe head trauma and bleeding from his nose, mouth, and ears.”

The child was initially taken to a local hospital, but he died in a speedboat on the way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Jahangir has reportedly confessed to throwing the child.
