A worker has been electrocuted top death after coming into contact with an electrically charged machine at a polythene factory in the Kamalbagh area in Dhaka’s Chawkbazar Thana, according to his co-workers.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Saiful, 32, who lived at the same factory in the Kamalbagh Polythene area.

He was rescued in an unconscious state around 12:30am on Thursday and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Khokon, who accompanied the victim to the hospital, said: " While Saiful was working on a machine at the factory at night, the entire machine suddenly became electrically charged. When he touched it, he was electrocuted and lost consciousness. We rescued him and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead."

Saiful hailed from Patuakhali’s Mirzaganj Upazila.

Inspector Md Faruk, chief of the police outpost at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said the worker died from electrocution. The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for a post-mortem.
