State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit says the government will help repair every house that has been damaged by the floods in Chattogram.
He made the statement while distributing relief in front of the Iqbal Convention Hall in Dohazari, on the border of Chandanaish and Satkania Upazilas on Monday afternoon.
Amit said, "This is the time to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people in need. When the water recedes, the Upazila administration will be able to go to each area. Then we will be able to assess the exact damage.
"Our main focus at the moment is relief and rescue. We want to rescue the victims and deliver food to them."
He said, "Rehabilitation work will begin after the water recedes. The government will help repair every house that was damaged.
"The government will help compensate those whose land has been flooded, has had their fences washed away, and livestock damaged so they can get back on their feet."
