A fire at a plastic goods manufacturing factory in Narayanganj Sadar Upazila has been doused after four hours.

The blaze erupted around 1:45am on Wednesday at the premises of Plastic Sign Private Limited in Mosinabondo Barirtek in Gognagar Union.

Seven units brought the flames under control around 6am, Narayanganj Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Abdullah Al Arefin said.

No casualties have been reported.

Officer Arefin said the factory produced plastic items including polybags, hangers and Scotch tape.

He explained that the presence of plastic raw materials and finished goods inside the premises caused the fire to spread rapidly.

Asked about the cause of the blaze, he said it was initially suspected to have been sparked by a short circuit, adding that the exact cause would be confirmed following an investigation.
