A police operation in Fatullah has taken a dramatic turn when three suspects detained in a house-looting case were seized from officers by a group of associates.
The incident took place around 3:30pm on Wednesday in Hashem Bagh, said Additional Superintendent of Police Md Hasinuzzaman.
He, however, could not immediately reveal the detainees' names.
Hasinuzzaman said, "Fatullah Model Police went to the scene after receiving a complaint of looting at the house of a retired police constable and detained the three suspects.”
Later, their friends and accomplices gathered and snatched the detainees from police custody, said Hasinuzzaman, adding that no policemen were injured in the incident.
The police station chief Mohammad Mahbub Alam, who was at the scene, said they are working on tracking down the suspects and their associates.
Additional police members are deployed at the scene.
On Tuesday morning, a RAB team was attacked during an anti-drug operation in Masdair.
Hours before that, several police members were targeted for arresting a suspected drug dealer, who was later whisked away from their custody in Rupganj Upazila.
