A union-level BNP leader has been targeted in a shooting when he went to appear at the Cox’s Bazar District and Sessions Judge’s Court premises in Cox’s Bazar.
The incident occurred at 11:30am on Sunday.
While the BNP leader escaped unharmed, his cousin was hit by a bullet, says Sheikh Mohammad Ali, chief of Cox’s Bazar Sadar police Station.
The local superintendent of police’s office, the district judge’s residence, and the district council building are all near the court. Police say they have detained a man with a foreign-made pistol, bullets, and a magazine of ammunition from the scene.
