Train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route have been suspended due to a broken rail track in Mymensingh's Gafargaon.

The disruption began around 8pm on Monday after a fracture was discovered at Dairerpool under Pagla Police Station.

Mymensingh Railway Police chief Akhtar Hossain said locals discovered a six-inch fracture on the rail line at Dairerpool in Shahidnagar, between Kaoraid and Mashakhali stations.

They immediately alerted the national emergency service 999, after which the local station master was informed and railway workers arrived to begin repair work.

As a result, the Dhaka-bound Agnibeena Express is currently stranded at Gafargaon station, while the Mahua Commuter remains stuck at Mashakhali station, officer Akhtar confirmed.
