A fake news website is using the logo and layout of bdnews24.com to spread a false report over a new “investment platform” that promises a “guaranteed income of 800,000 Bangladeshi taka per week with minimal investments”.
The site uses the logos of several prominent persons, banks, individuals, businesses and organisations to try and convince people to sign up for “Instant Akpro 2X” while providing their first and last names, email, and phone number.
The logos of Islami Bank, Tiger IT, DataSoft, BRAC Bank, the Ministry of Finance, and the name of economist and former Bangladesh Bank governor Atiur Rahman to entice registrants.
The page describes Instant Akpro 2X as an investment platform that automatically analyses different markets and completes profitable trades.
It states that an initial investment of Tk 18,500 is required to “start working with the system”, but that it could soon increase to Tk 74,000.
It quotes Atiur Rahman as stating that he recommends people “not to hesitate and take advantage of this opportunity as soon as possible”.
A spokesperson for bdnews24.com said: “It is obvious that this is a financial fraud ring. They are using our logo to carry out scams. They have even used the names and logos of the Ministry of Finance, two local banks and two IT companies.”
Below the report, a Conversation section has been added, featuring comments posted under different names.
One such comment, using the name Ariful Ashraf, says: “I’ve finally been able to buy a new car! This doesn’t feel like real life — it’s like a dream…”
It also includes comments from an alleged user named Mohammad Rahman who it says made Tk 800,000 in five days.
The bdnews24.com spokesperson said: “There is no option to comment below reports on our website. To gain credibility, the fraudsters have posted questions and answers themselves, clearly aiming to lure people with claims such as buying a car with the profits.”
The fake interview is being circulated on Facebook as a sponsored post.
Though the site uses the bdnews24.com layout, a number of inconsistencies show that it is not the true website for the news publication.
The url does not feature bdnews24.com, but instead says amazonsncx.com. The date on the top left says it is November 24, 2025. The bdnews24.com site updates the date automatically to match the current time.
Combined with the articles shown in the Related Stories tab, it seems that the fake website was made using assets scraped from an older version of the bdnews24.com site.
The story also features a comment section at the bottom, which is not a feature of the website.
Previously, other fake news items had used graphics similar to those of bdnews24.com or its logo in order to make fake reports on Chief Advisor Muhamad Yunus, Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed, actress Sadia Ayman, businessman Moosa bin Shamsher, bdnews24.com Editor-in-Chief Toufique Imrose Khalidi as well as Summit Group Chairman Mohammad Aziz Khan. Each time, they were shared from a different Facebook page.
