Burnt body of woman found by roadside in Ctg's Sitakunda

Police have recovered the burnt body of an unidentified woman from the side of a road in Chattogram's Sitakunda.

The incident took place on Saturday night in the Abdullahghata area, close to the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway.

Police say initial accounts from witnesses suggest the woman took her own life by dousing herself in kerosene and setting herself on fire.

Inspector Md Sohel Rana of the Faujdarhat Police Outpost said that residents saw flames by the roadside and alerted police.

“She died at the scene from severe burns. Locals have been unable to identify her,” he added.

The woman is thought to have been around 45 years old.

Police have sent the body to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination and are working to establish her identity.
