New President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will arrive at his official residence Bangabhaban on Sunday, the President's Office says.
He will leave his ministerial residence on Minto Road for the Bangabhaban at 10:50am that day.
Fakhrul, who has long served as the secretary general of the ruling BNP, took the oath as Bangladesh’s 23rd President on Friday evening.
The President's Office said that after reaching Gate No. 2 at the Bangabhaban on Sunday, a police team will take the president to a stage. There, a team of the President Guard Regiment will put on a guard of honour for the head of state.
Afterwards, the president will go to his office at Bangabhaban.
Fakhrul won the presidential election in parliament on Thursday by a margin of 255 votes to 88. He was previously the local government minister in Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s cabinet
The President's Office said Fakhrul will go to the National Memorial to pay his respects at 9:30am on Saturday. After laying a wreath there, he will be given a guard of honour by the armed forces.
After paying his respects, the president will return to his Minto Road residence. He may then go to his Gulshan residence.
