Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon everyone to forge unity in the interest of Bangladesh and its people while extending his Eid greetings.
Speaking at his residence on Thursday morning after offering Eid prayers at the Thakurgaon District School grounds, the BNP secretary general said: "On this day, I appeal to the people of this country -- let us all set aside our differences and come together for the sake of the country, for the sake of Muslims, for the sake of the people."
Earlier, he spent time greeting local residents and exchanging pleasantries to mark the festive occasion.
The minister said, "We performed our prayers at the Zilla School ground. People across the country and Muslims worldwide are celebrating Eid-ul-Azha.
“Sacrifice is not killing -- it is an example of standing by the truth. It is an act of worship through which we draw closer to Allah by giving up what we hold dear. We all observe it.”
He also prayed for the well-being and peace of all Muslims across the globe, hoping that no lives are lost or harmed through ongoing global conflicts and wars.
