He died after Friday’s earthquake caused a railing to collapse on him

Rafiul Islam Rafi, 22, a student of Sir Salimullah Medical College, who was killed in the devastating earthquake in Dhaka, has been laid to rest at his village home in Bogura.

His mother, who was also injured in the quake, has returned to the hospital after attending her son’s burial.

Rafi’s funeral prayer was held on Saturday afternoon at the Sutrapur Central Eidgah Ground in Bogura.

He had been killed when the railing of a nearby building fell on Rafi after the 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck at 10:38am on Friday. He had been waiting along with her mother at a butcher’s shop at Bangshal in Dhaka.
