Government to refund Tk 380m unspent Hajj funds to 990 agencies

The government is going to return Tk 379 million in unspent Hajj funds over the past eight years to 990 travel agencies.

The amount, recorded under the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Masar Nusk IBAN platform, is being reimbursed via the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Speaking at the Secretariat on Monday, Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain said the ministry repeatedly corresponded with the Saudi Hajj and Umrah ministry and held several bilateral meetings to secure the refunds.

“Following these discussions, the Saudi ministry returned the unspent money in the Bangladesh Hajj Office’s Masar Nusk IBAN,” he said.

Hossain added that all official procedures for transferring the refunds have now been completed.
