Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed authorities to quickly provide financial assistance to the farmers whose crops were submerged in Haor areas due to recent heavy rains.
Addressing a cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday afternoon, he emphasised transparency in creating the list.
"A precise and transparent list must be prepared after identifying the truly affected farmers. Based on this list, financial assistance will be provided to the farmers for the next three months,” said the premier.
The meeting also discussed advancing the rice planting and harvesting season to ensure farmers avoid losses due to rain.
The prime minister announced in parliament on Apr 29 that the government would identify farmers affected by heavy rains in the Haor areas and provide them with three months of aid.
