Three sentenced to death for driver's murder in Chattogram

Court also fines each of the convicts Tk 50,000

A Chattogram court has sentenced three people to death for the murder of a driver in the city’s Toll Road. 

Each convict has also been fined Tk 50,000.

The Fifth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Chattogram Md Tajul Islam delivered the verdict on Monday. One of the convicts was present in court, while the other two remain absconding.

The convicts are Nurul Amin, Shahjahan and Nurul Alam Tutul.

Court bench assistant SM Kawsar Sagar told bdnews24.com that the court handed down the sentences after finding the murder charges proved beyond reasonable doubt.

The body of Sojib, who was identified by a single name, was recovered from the eastern side of Toll Road in Pahartali on Oct 27, 2021. 

Fingerprints and his national identity card later confirmed him as a driver from Chatkhil in Noakhali.

His younger brother Iqbal Hossain Robiul filed the murder case.
