A Chittagong University (CU) Chhatra Dal leader injured in a road accident in Hathazari has died after two days in hospital.

Mohammad Arif, joint general secretary of the university’s Chhatra Dal unit and a history student from the 2016–17 session, passed away on Tuesday night at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), CU Chhatra Dal leader Ayubur Rahman Taufiq said.

Arif was critically injured late on Saturday when a three-wheeler loaded with firewood collided with the motorcycle he was riding in Hathazari Upazila's Charia Buri Pukur Par area.

His companion, Hathazari Swechchhasebak Dal leader Emran Chowdhury, 42, died at the scene.

Arif was first admitted to Evercare Hospital, but as his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to CMCH on Tuesday, where he later died.
