In a major shake-up of the Bangladesh Army’s top brass, Lt Gen Mohammad Shaheenul Haque has been appointed as the new quarter master general (QMG).

The latest reshuffle sees new leadership at the National Defence College (NDC), the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), and the Logistics Area, alongside the appointment of a new adjutant general.

This follows a broader reorganisation of top-tier posts, including the chief of general staff (CGS), the principal staff officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division, and the director general of the DGFI. The previous reshuffle came on Feb 22.

According to sources at the defence ministry, Shaheenul, who was previously serving as the commandant of the National Defence College (NDC), replaces Lt Gen Md Faizur Rahman.

Faizur, who had been the QMG since October 2024, has been appointed as the new commandant of the NDC.

A commissioned officer from the 20th BMA Long Course, Shaheenul previously held key positions including chief of general staff and master general of ordinance (MGO) at the Army Headquarters.

He also served as the general officer commanding (GOC) of the 24th Infantry Division in Chattogram and the 9th Infantry Division in Savar.

Faizur briefly served as the director general of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) before his promotion.

A 23rd BMA Long Course officer, he also commanded the 66th Infantry Division in Rangpur.

Maj Gen Md Nasim Parvez, the commandant of the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), has been deputed to the foreign ministry for an ambassadorial assignment.

He is succeeded at MIST by Maj Gen Md Hakimuzzaman, who was previously the adjutant general.

Maj Gen Mohd Hossain Al Morshed, the GOC of the 19th Infantry Division in Ghatail and former director general of NSI, has been named the new adjutant general of the Army.

In another move, Maj Gen Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, the GOC and area commander of the 66th Infantry Division in Rangpur, has been appointed as the GOC of the Logistics Area (Log Area). He replaces Maj Gen Md Mostagousur Rahman Khan, who has retired.
