A Bangladesh court has barred Faisal Karim Masud, a suspect in the murder of Osman Hadi, from travelling abroad amid a corruption investigation.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir issued the order Monday against Faisal and his wife, Shaheda Parvin Samia, following corruption allegations.

Indian police said Faisal was arrested with associate Alamgir Hossain in North 24 Parganas’s Bangaon on Mar 7.

He has remained detained in India since.

The order came after an Anti-Corruption Commission application, said its Public Relations Officer Aktarul Islam.

ACC Assistant Director Md Saifur Rahman filed the application.

The application said an investigation was examining alleged transactions of Tk 1.27 billion involving Faisal and people linked to his interests.

“Trusted sources have revealed during the investigation that the suspect may flee abroad. In the interest of a proper investigation, it is essential to bar them from travelling abroad.”
