Bangladesh has completed preparations for Eid-ul-Azha congregations across the country, with the main national prayer congregation scheduled at the National Eidgah ground in Dhaka at 7:30am as usual.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, cabinet members, Supreme Court judges, politicians, and people from all walks of life will join the main congregation on Thursday morning.
Baitul Mukarram National Mosque's Khatib Mufti Mohammad Abdul Malek will lead prayers at the National Eidgah.
Dhaka South City Corporation has set up the ground to accommodate around 35,000 worshippers across 121 rows, with full security arrangements in place.
If adverse weather forces a change, the main congregation will shift to Baitul Mukarram at 8am.
As in previous years, the country’s largest Eid congregation will take place at Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj.
The prayers there will begin at 9am and will be led by Maulana Abul Khair Muhammad Saifullah, Khatib of the Boro Bazar Jame Mosque in the district town.
Railway authorities have arranged two special trains named “Sholakia Special” to ease travel for worshippers attending the congregation.
Dinajpur’s Gor-E-Shaheed Boro Maidan has also continued drawing huge crowds in recent years.
Organisers say between 500,000 and 600,000 worshippers can pray together at the 8.9-hectare ground.
The Eid congregation there will begin at 8:30am and will be led by National Imam Association, Dinajpur President Maulana Matiur Rahman Qasemi.
The Met Office has forecast rain in many areas of Khulna, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions on Eid day, alongside scattered rainfall in parts of Rangpur, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.
Dhaka
The Islamic Foundation said Baitul Mukarram will host five congregations at 7am, 8am, 9am, 10am, and 10:45am.
Dhaka University Central Mosque will hold two congregations at 7:30am and 8:30am.
Worshippers can also join prayers at Salimullah Muslim Hall Mosque at 7am, Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall lawn at 8am, and the Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall eastern playground at 8am.
The South Plaza of the parliament will hold its Eid congregation at 7:30am.
Muslim devotees can also choose from over 100 Eidgahs and 1,500 mosques across the capital.
Chattogram
Chattogram’s main Eid congregation will be held at Jamiatul Falah National Mosque premises at 7am.
A second congregation at the same venue will begin at 8am.
The district administration will also arrange another congregation at the gymnasium ground of the district stadium at 8:30am.
Under the supervision of Chattogram City Corporation, nine more congregations will be held at 8am at different mosques across the city.
Rajshahi
Rajshahi’s main congregation will begin at 7:30am at the Hazrat Shah Makhdum (RA) Central Eidgah ground on Thursday.
If bad weather prevents the gathering at the Eidgah, the main congregation will shift to Hazrat Shah Makhdum (RA) Dargah Jame Mosque at 8am.
Other Eidgahs across Rajshahi city and Upazilas will hold prayers at times fixed by local authorities.
Khulna
The main congregation at Khulna Circuit House ground is at 7am.
If weather turns, the main prayer shifts to Khulna Town Jame Mosque at 7am, with a second at 8am and third at 9am.
A congregation at Khulna Alia Madrasa Model Mosque is set for 7:30am.
Each ward across the city will hold separate prayers under city corporation management.
Barishal
The Hemayet Uddin Central Eidgah will anchor the city's main congregation at 8am.
Worshippers can also head to major congregations at the Charmonai Darbar Sharif grounds and the Guthiya Baitul Aman Jame Mosque in Wazirpur at 8am.
The Central Jame Koshai Mosque will hold two sessions at 8am and 9am, while Ebaedullah Mosque will host prayers at 8:30am and 9:30am.
Baitul Mukarram Mosque will run sessions at 8am and 9am, followed by Port Road Keramatia Jame Mosque at 7am and 9am, Police Lines Jame Mosque at 7:30am and 8:30am, and Nuria School Eidgah ground at 7am and 8am.
Anjuman-e-Hemayet Islam Eidgah will start its prayers at 8am.
Sylhet
Sylhet’s traditional Shahi Eidgah ground will host the main Eid-ul-Azha congregation at 8am.
Three congregations will be held at Kudrat Ullah Jame Mosque in Bandar Bazar at 7am, 8am and 9am.
Anjuman-e-Khedmate Quran Sylhet will organise another congregation at Sylhet Government Alia Madrasa ground at 7:30am.
Rangpur
Rangpur’s main Eid congregation will begin at 8:30am at the Collectorate Eidgah.
If the weather is bad, the main congregation will shift to Rangpur District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre at 8:30am, followed by a second prayer at 9am.
Other congregations will be held at Munshipara Eidgah at 8:30am, Keramatia Mosque beside Maulana Keramat Ali shrine at 9:30am, Mondol Para Boro Eidgah and Damodarpur Boro Maidan at 9:30am, Mithapukur Central Eidgah at 9am and Badarganj Chandamari Karamatia Eidgah at 10am.
Eid prayers will also begin at 8:30am at Pirgachha JN High School ground, Kaunia Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah, Pirganj Central Eidgah, Badarganj Central Eidgah and Sadar Upazila Parishad Eidgah.
Rangpur Medical College Central Jame Mosque ground will host prayers at 8:30am, Paikan Boro Jumma Mosque ground in Gangachara at 9am, Dhap Staff Quarter Jame Mosque ground at 9am and Burirhat Central Eidgah at 9am.
Authorities have fixed Eid prayer schedules at around 5,090 Eidgahs and open grounds beside mosques across the district this year.
Mymensingh
The main congregation at Anjuman Eidgah ground in the city is at 7:30am, with a second at 8:30am.
Prayers also at the city's Grand Mosque at 8am, Darul Ulum Nijamiya Eidgah at 8:30am, and Bangladesh Agricultural University central ground at 9am.
