Three people have been killed after a bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Brahmanbaria's Sarail Upazila.
At least eight others have been injured.
The accident occurred near Boishamura of Shahbazpur Union on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway around 12pm on Monday, said Abu Taher Dewan, chief of Sarail-Khatihata Highway Police Station.
Witness Takdir Hossain said a local bus named “Diganta”, which had departed from Madhabpur, collided with a Sylhet-bound truck coming from the Dhaka–Sarail Bishwa Road direction after reaching Boishamura.
"The bus also hit an autorickshaw on the road before it veered out of control and plunged into a ditch."
Another witness, Kazi Mizanur Rahman, said three passengers died in the crash and many others were injured.
"Several passengers are trapped beneath the overturned bus," he added.
Police officer Taher said the dead comprised one woman and two men, whose identities had not yet been established.
He added that eight injured people were taken to hospital for treatment.
