Police arrest ‘Pangkha Rubel’ in Dhaka’s Adabor

The arrestee is known as the second-in-command of the “Rokto Chosha Johnny Group”, a teenage gang from the Shekhertek area, police say

Police have arrested “top mugger” Rubel, alias “Pangkha Rubel” named in multiple cases filed at the Adabor Police Station in Dhaka.

He was arrested in Adabor on Friday morning, said Jewel Rana, Mohammadpur Zone additional deputy commissioner of police.

He said, “Rubel is the suspect in 3 cases of Adabor Police Station and arrest warrants have been issued against him in those cases. There are a total of 9 cases filed against him related to robbery, banditry, extortion and drugs.”

The arrestee, Rubel, is known as the second-in-command of the “Rokto Chosha Johnny Group”, a teenage gang from the Shekhertek area, police say.

Rubel was arrested three times before, but released on bail, got involved in the same crimes again.

Since the change of political scenario following the upheaval of Aug 5, 2024, Mohammadpur has been the most talked about area in Dhaka for theft, robbery, and murder.

Frustrated with the daily incidents of theft, robbery, and murder, citizens in Mohammadpur have gone to the police station several times and even staged protests.

Under the circumstances, law-enforcing agencies have been conducting “stringent operations” in the area from time to time.

Police say such operations will continue to maintain the law and order.
