318 organisations apply for registration to observe general election

Registered organisations can observe local and national elections for five years

A total of 318 organisations have applied to the Election Commission (EC) to register as observers during the voting.

EC spokesperson Md Ashadul Haque shared this development on Tuesday.

Ahead of the parliamentary elections, the EC issued a public notice on Jul 27 inviting observer organisations to register by Aug 10.

After verification, the list of organisations will be submitted to the commission for a decision.

EC officials said after selection, any information gaps will be identified and ineligible applicants will be informed.

Registered organisations will have five years to observe local and national elections.
