Maj Gen Md Faizur Rahman has been appointed as the new director general of forces intelligence amid a reshuffling of three senior positions in the military.

He will replace current DGFI chief Maj Gen Hamidul Haque.

Faizur was commissioned to the army through the 23rd BMA Long Course and was serving in the Defence Service Command and Staff College in Mirpur as a commandant. Before that, he was the GOC of the 66th Infantry Division in Rangpur.

Maj Gen Md Nasim Parvez has been appointed as the new commandant to the Military Science and Technology Institute in the Mirpur Cantonment. Parvez, who had been serving as the commandant at the Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operations Training at the Rajendrapur Cantonment, will replace Maj General Saidul Islam at MIST.

There have been changes to the post of director general of Ansar and VDP as well. Gen Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud will replace Maj Gen AKM Aminul Haque in the role.

Prior to this, there had been a reshuffling of five officers at the lieutenant general level on Aug 6. In addition, Maj Gen Ziaul Ahsan, director general of the National Telecommunications Monitoring Centre, was dismissed from the army.
