A Khulna court has sentenced three people to death for the murder of Rezaul Sheikh in Khulna's Batiaghata Upazila seven years ago.
Judge Md Khurshid Alam of the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court announced the verdict on Monday in the presence of the convicts, said court bench assistant Md Shah Alam.
They are Abdus Salam, 30, Md Khurshid Alam, 35, and his brother Md Khairul Sheikh, 28, all from Jhalbari.
According to the case statement, Rezaul was attacked with bamboo sticks near his shop at Jhalbari village market on Mar 31, 2018.
He died after being taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
His younger brother Mezbah Uddin was also assaulted while trying to save him.
A case was filed that evening, accusing four people over a previous dispute involving construction of a shop.
PBI inspector Md Golam Rasul submitted the chargesheet against four suspects in 2019.
The court acquitted Ershad Sheikh.
