The preliminary exam for the 47th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) is set to be held on Jun 27.
The exam will take place from 10:00am to 12:00pm at test centres across eight divisional cities, according to the Public Service Commission (PSC).
"The preliminary exam for the 47th BCS will be held on Jun 27. It will be conducted simultaneously in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Sylhet, Rangpur, and Mymensingh," PSC spokesman SM Matiur Rahman said on Monday.
He added that the exam halls, seating arrangements, and instructions for candidates will be published on the PSC's website (www.bpsc.gov.bd) and Teletalk’s website (http://bpsc.teletalk.com.bd).
For the preliminary exam, candidates will need to take a 200-mark multiple-choice question (MCQ) exam. The exam will last 2 hours. Candidates will earn 1 point for each correct answer, and 0.50 points will be deducted for incorrect answers.
On Nov 28, the PSC issued the 47th BCS notification to recruit officers to 3,487 cadre posts and 201 non-cadre posts.
The application process was originally scheduled to start on Dec 10, but it was then postponed by the PSC.
Later, on Dec 26, the PSC published a revised notification for the 47th BCS, for which the application period ran from Dec 29 to Feb 27.
This year, for the first time, the maximum age limit for applicants has been set at 32 years. The application fee and the marks for the oral exams have been reduced. The marks for the viva exams have been lowered from 200 to 100, bringing the total marks down from 1,100 to 1,000.
