Another child with measles symptoms has died at Cumilla Medical College Hospital (CuMH).

The six-month-old died in the measles isolation unit of CuMCH early Wednesday morning, said Meah Monjur Ahmed, head of the hospital's paediatric department.

The deceased Rabbi, son of Kausar Ahmed of Gurgaon area of Sadar South Upazila, was admitted to the isolation unit of CuMCH on May 9 with symptoms of measles.

At least seven children have died from measles and with measles symptoms in Cumilla. Four of them died while undergoing treatment at CuMCH.

Paediatric chief Monjur said that 69 children are currently admitted to the hospital's measles isolation unit.

Meanwhile, according to the district civil surgeon's office, the total number of patients with measles and measles symptoms in the district stands at 1,500 as of now. Of these, 100 cases have been confirmed to be measles.

So far, 1,078 patients with measles and measles symptoms have been hospitalised in the district and 933 have recovered and returned home. The number of patients currently hospitalised is 145.
