Policeman’s hanging body found in bathroom at Ctg barracks

The hanging body of a policeman has been recovered in Chattogram.

The body of Assistant Sub-Inspector Wahidur Rahman, 32, was found in the barracks bathroom at Chawkbazar Police Station on Sunday.

Wahidur, a native of Noakhali's Kabirhat Upazila, had been assigned to the station.

He had gone on patrol with a team on Saturday night, said Alamgir Hossain, deputy commissioner (south) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police. He returned to the barracks in the morning once his shift ended.

“He had gone to the bathroom with a towel and soap. A colleague of his then tried to go for a bath as well, found the door closed, and started to call out to him. He knocked on the door for some time, received no response, and called the others. They broke down the door and saw his body hanging from a hook on the ceiling with rope.”

Deputy Commissioner Alamgir said, “Wahidur had been transferred from the Barishal Range to the CMP several months ago. Those who went on patrol with him last night say they did not notice anything unusual with him. He was behaving as he normally did.”
