Asset declarations from interim ministers will be made public soon: press secretary

A similar promise made after the interim government assumed power remains unfulfilled

Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said interim cabinet ministers will release their asset declarations within a day or two.

He made the comment while responding to a question at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy on Monday.

“As far as I know, everyone except one or two advisors has submitted their wealth statements. We will make them public within a day or two,” he said.

The press conference was organised to brief journalists on the 10th special meeting of the Advisory Council.

In a speech addressed to the nation just two weeks after assuming office in August 2024, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus had announced that his advisors’ wealth statements would soon be published.

The interim government is nearing the end of its term, but the wealth statements were never published.

The press secretary highlighted the interim government’s achievements.

“Our biggest success has been ensuring peace and stability in the country. In the post-revolutionary period, we can say the chief advisor’s leadership has saved the country from a catastrophe,” he said.
