Abdur Razzak Sohel, a teacher in Comilla University’s Department of Mass Communication, has been assaulted and robbed by a group of people while waiting to travel to Dhaka.
Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Police Station chief (OC) Md Selim said Sohel filed a case against four unknown suspects over an incident that took place on Wednesday.
According to the case dossier, Sohel was waiting on Kotbari Bishwa Road to travel to Dhaka when the driver of a nearby car called him over, and a group of people forcibly took him inside the vehicle.
They tied his limbs, tortured and threatened him in multiple stages, and stole around Tk 100,000 from him before abandoning him on the roadside.
He went to Dhaka by bus and informed his family about the matter. Later, he returned to Cumilla and filed a case.
Sohel said, “The kidnappers took a total of Tk 97,500 from me and later left me at an unknown location in Daudkandi. They also threatened to shoot me several times.
“I am still deeply traumatised by the incident.”
“We will take legal action very soon,” said OC Selim.
