The Regional Election Office in Chattogram has completed all preparations to start selling nomination papers for the regional constituencies for the parliamentary polls.
Regional Election Officer Belayet Hossain Chowdhury said they are ready to issue public notice and have fixed the price for the voter list without photos.
“District election offices have started receiving nomination forms from Dhaka,” Belayet told bdnews24.com on Saturday.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin announced the election schedule on Dec 11, setting Feb 12 as the date for holding the general election and the referendum for implementing the July Charter simultaneously.
Under the timetable, nomination papers for parliament may be filed between Dec 12 and 29, will be scrutinised from Dec 30 to Jan 4, and can be withdrawn until Jan 20, with voters going to the polls three weeks later.
Election symbols will be allocated on Jan 21, after withdrawals. This provides 18 days for filing nominations and 20 days for campaigning.

Chattogram has 16 parliamentary seats. There are 300 parliamentary seats across Bangladesh.
District election officials said candidates have to obtain a CD of voter list by paying a certain fee before buying nomination papers. The candidates will have to make a security deposit as well, which is Tk 50,000.
Earlier, candidates paid Tk 20,000 as their security deposit while filing nomination papers.
The prices of voter lists without photos range between Tk 4,000 and Tk 18,000 for Chattogram seats.
The three returning officers are the Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner and Regional Election Officer of Chattogram. There are 25 returning officers for conducting elections across Chattogram.
