The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has pressed charges against Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, son of Sheikh Rehana and nephew of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, on charges of possessing wealth inconsistent with his known sources of income.
A case was filed on Sunday at the ACC’s Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1, by Assistant Director Abdullah Al Mamun.
According to the case statement, Bobby is accused of illegally acquiring and possessing assets worth Tk 28.9 million that is not consistent with his legitimate income.
This includes immovable assets worth Tk 3.9 million, and movable assets amounting to Tk 24.9 million.
The chairman and trustee of the Awami League's think tank Centre for Research and Information (CRI) also owns a flat worth Tk 17.3 million in the capital’s Niketan, received as a gift from his uncle, retired Major General Tarique Ahmed Siddique.
Despite not having any registered business ventures, he had deposited Tk 74.8 million and withdrew Tk 50 million across three bank accounts.
These transactions have been considered unusual and suspicious compared with his declared income, according to the case files.
Prior to this, Bobby and 15 others were sued over allegations of irregularly acquiring a 0.012 hectare plot in Dhaka’s Purbachal.
Following the July Uprising, multiple cases have been filed against his mother Rehana, aunt Hasina, and other family members on various charges.
