Police arrest 14 people after Chhatre League procession in Dhaka’s Kuril

They hold a march demanding the release of arrested activists

Police have arrested at least 14 members of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League during a procession on Kuril Bishwa Road in Dhaka demanding the release of arrested activists of the ousted Awami League and its affiliates.

The march started outside the Jamuna Feature Park mall around 7am on Saturday.

Police dispersed the protesters when the procession reached the Kuril Bishwa Road.

Banani Police apprehended 10 to 12 people as they tried to flee on a microbus, said Bhatara Police chief Mazharul Islam.

However, Banani Police Sub-Inspector Jaane Alam said they arrested 14 people.
