Four members of a family, including a woman and a child, have suffered burn injuries after an explosion triggered by a suspected gas cylinder leak in Cumilla’s Daudkandi.

The incident occurred around 6am on Tuesday on the ground floor of a three-storey building in West Maijpara of Ladakhal, Daudkandi Fire Station Inspector Ershad Hossain said.

"We initially learnt that the explosion was caused by a leak in the gas line," he said. "Four people were burnt in the fire. They were taken to the hospital before we reached the scene.”

An intact gas cylinder was also found inside the house, the officer added.

The injured are Monowara, 60, Zill Haque, 37, Umme Humayra, 30, and 2-year-old Hurram.

Ershad said three of them were taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, while the other victim was admitted to Gouripur Upazila Health Complex.
