The interim government has renamed a total of 880 infrastructures, establishments and institutions named after deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other members of their family.

A publication has been released containing the list of the renamed structures.

Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam disclosed the development in a Facebook post on Saturday.

"A 160-page book was required to list the names of 880 establishments, offices, schools, laboratories and even small public corners named after Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Hasina, the wider Sheikh family, and individuals close to them," he said.

“The compilation reflects the way Sheikh Hasina governed the country—where, in her view, family ties took precedence over everything else during her nearly 16 years in power."

He said copies of the book have already been sent to newspapers, television channels, and online media.

Hasina resigned as prime minister and fled to India on Aug 5 last year after a student-led mass uprising ended the Awami League’s 15-year rule.

Since taking office, the interim administration has moved to rename institutions associated with Hasina, Bangabandhu and other Awami League figures as part of what officials describe as efforts to “depoliticise” state infrastructure.

These establishments included Army camps, air bases, naval vessels, mega bridges, roads, structures, schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, and research centres.
