Man stabbed to death in Mirpur after dispute over money

A young man has been stabbed to death after a dispute over a money transaction in Dhaka’s Mirpur.

Mehedi Hasan, 26, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 4am on Monday after the attack near Shah Ali Police Station. 

He died there around 6:30am, Shah Ali Police chief Jahangir Alam said.

Mehedi had been arguing with a man identified as Mahbub Rahman over the transaction when Mahbub allegedly attacked him with a knife, the officer said.

Hearing Mehedi's screams, nearby residents rushed in and overpowered Mahbub, later handing him over to police along with the knife.

Mahbub is being held at the police station, officer Jahangir said. 

A case is being prepared, and he will be shown arrested once it is filed.
